Scheme Introduction: A Brief Overview
|
- The Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana is a key welfare initiative introduced by the Government of Punjab to provide financial support to women in the state.
- The Punjab Government announced this scheme on 8 March 2026 during the presentation of the state budget in the Legislative Assembly on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
- The initiative was introduced under the leadership of Bhagwant Mann to give direct financial assistance to women and promote their economic independence.
- The Department of Social Security and Women & Child Development Punjab will handle the implementation and administration of this scheme across the state.
- Through this programme, the Punjab Government plans to provide monthly financial assistance to eligible women living in Punjab.
- Each beneficiary woman will receive Rs. 1,000 every month directly into her bank account under the Punjab Government’s Mukhyamantri Mavan Dhiyan Satkar Scheme.
- Women belonging to the Scheduled Caste category will receive a higher monthly assistance of Rs. 1,500 under this initiative.
- The government designed this programme to help women handle household expenses and improve their financial stability.
- Eligibility conditions have been kept simple so that a large number of women across Punjab can benefit from the scheme.
- Women who are permanent residents and registered voters of Punjab, and who are 18 years or older, can apply for monthly financial support under the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dhian Satkar Yojana.
- Women already receiving assistance under social security programmes such as Old Age Pension Scheme, Widow or Destitute Women Pension Scheme and Disability Pension Scheme will also remain eligible.
- However, the government has excluded certain categories to ensure that the financial assistance reaches the most deserving beneficiaries.
- Existing or retired government employees, along with current or former MPs or MLAs and income tax payers will not qualify for benefits under the scheme.
- Officials plan to roll out this scheme on a large scale across the state.
- Government estimates suggest that nearly 97% of adult women in Punjab may become eligible for financial assistance through this initiative.
- To support the programme, the state government plans to allocate around Rs. 9,300 crore in the budget to ensure regular monthly payments.
- Finally, on the 2nd of April 2026, the Punjab Government released the Official Guidelines of Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana.
- Registration under this scheme will be done through the Sewa Kendra’s, Anganwadi Centres, Nagar Nigam and Committee offices.
- Registration for the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana begins on 15 April 2026 in 9 assembly constituencies, such as Adampur, Malout, Sri Anandpur Sahib, Dirba, Sunam, Moga, Kotkapura, Batala, and Patiala (Rural).
- While, registration for the remaining 108 constituencies will start from 15 May 2026.
- Registration facilities for Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana are available at over 26000 centres.
- Overall, the scheme focuses on improving women’s financial independence and strengthening their social and economic position across Punjab.

Eligibility Details
|
- Women who are permanent residents of Punjab can apply for the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dhian Satkar Yojana.
- The minimum age of the applicant must be 18 years or above.
- However, current or retired government employees, present or former MPs/ MLAs, and income tax payers will not qualify for this monthly financial assistance.

Scheme Benefits
|
- Every eligible woman who applies under the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana will receive monthly financial support from the government.
- Under this scheme, each woman beneficiary will get Rs. 1,000 per month as financial assistance.
- Women applicants belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category will be given Rs. 1,500 per month under the scheme.
- However, current or retired government employees, present or former MPs/ MLAs, and income tax payers will not qualify for this monthly financial assistance.

Steps to Apply
|
- Eligible women can apply for the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana by visiting their nearest Anganwadi Centre, Sewa Kendra, Municipal Council, and Committee Offices.
- The registration process commences on the 15th of April 2026, and applicants need to visit the centre physically.
- At the centre, the applicant needs to collect the application form of Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana or provide details for registration.
- After that, she must fill in the required personal details such as name, address, Aadhaar number, and voter ID information.
- The applicant then needs to attach all required documents, including Aadhaar card, voter ID, bank passbook, and caste certificate (if applicable).
- Officials and facilitators present at Anganwadi Centres or Sewa Kendras will assist women in completing the application process.
- Once the form is completed, it must be submitted at the same centre along with the attached documents.
- Primary verification of the application will be carried out by officials at the Anganwadi Centre or Sewa Kendra.
- After initial verification, the application will be forwarded to the concerned department for further verification and approval.
- Once the application is approved, the selected women will start receiving financial assistance directly in their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts through DBT under the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana.
Note: The registration for Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana is currently open for Adampur, Malout, Sri Anandpur Sahib, Dirba, Sunam, Moga, Kotkapura, Batala, and Patiala (Rural) constituencies. Registration for the remaining 108 constituencies will start from 15 May 2026.
